Pittsburgh's Most Wanted

Visit the link http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/police/html/most_wanted.html to see Pittsburgh's Most Wanted Website to see who is wanted in Pittsburgh.

The pictures of the Pittsburgh's Most Wanted are also on the website; however, would not appear on this blog.

Unfortunately, the last update was on January 26, 2009. I am sure that there are many more individuals that are considered 'most wanted', along with crimes since January 2009. The information I copied from the website is noted below.

  1. I also found another interesting website called "Pittsburgh - FBI Most Wanted" located at http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fo/pgwanted.htm.

This website was interesting and has unsolved crimes that have occurred in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Please STAY TUNED. I will post some of the things that I find to be intersting.

    SEXUAL ASSAULT

    UNKNOWN SUSPECT

    DESCRIPTION

Age: 25 to 30 years old Build: Thin or medium
Sex: Male Hair: Light brown or blond
Height: 5'8 to 6'0" Eyes: Unknown
Weight: 170 to 190 pounds Race: White

    CAUTION
A White male is being sought for committing sexual assaults in the Ohio and Pennsylvania areas. During April 2001 through May 2003, the suspect is alleged to have sexually assaulted several female minors. In most cases, the suspect reportedly approached the victims' residences shortly after they arrived home. He then appeared to be lost by asking for directions and asked to use a telephone. Once inside the homes, the suspect allegedly committed the sexual assaults upon the female victims. In several of the incidents, the victims were apparently followed by the suspect to their homes from a school bus drop-off location.

    REMARKS
During some of the assaults, the suspect has worn sunglasses and a hat. He may also have a mole or pimple on the side of his left nostril. Additionally, the suspect is sometimes in possession of items such as a clipboard or package, which make him appear to be a legitimate delivery person. Additionally, the suspect may be driving a dark colored, possibly black, four-door sedan.

    REWARD
The FBI is offering a reward for information leading directly to the arrest of the suspect.

SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS

IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS PERSON, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL FBI OFFICE OR THE NEAREST AMERICAN EMBASSY OR CONSULATE.

  2. Driving on I95 in Philly there is a new LED Billboard that shows a different of Philly's Most Wanted everyday.

I think it's a great way to get the word out about dangerous people still on the streets.

As for Pittsburgh's I find it interesting that there are two people wanted for graffiti. Aren't there more serious crimes to worry about?

  3. agreed, pat. its silly to lump in graffiti artists with real criminals who rob banks. just goes to show that no crime is too insignificant for cops to waste time on i guess.

  4. Marco and Pat:
I ditto that. My first thought when I read that website was, "Graffiti? Seriously?" Either Pittsburgh is remarkably crime-free, or this is ridiculous. I choose the latter.

    Rosalie:
This is all interesting info. Right now, though, it seems like your entries are mostly just copying what you've found on other websites. I think you should add in some of your own reflections, experiences, etc.
Also, maybe you could do some investigative reporting to find out the details of some of these crimes, like looking through old newspapers, etc. Figure out the police budget, how they usually go about catching people for various crimes (assault or graffiti or what have you), what the penalties for them are, which officers were involved, etc.
There's so much more to the city's crime and to our justice system than meets the eye. I think the possibilities for this blog are endless.

  5. For example:

For some reason I can't find this article, but recently a police officer shot a 15 year old boy in the back and killed him. The officer is still working now. This isn't the first time he's used excessive force on the job. Furthermore, apparently he had a record of violence when he was in the army.

This is at least what a (very knowledgeable) friend told me, and if I could only find the article, I'd check these facts. I think it'd be really interesting if you looked into things like this, things that the newspapers never cover.

  6. Thank you all for your comments. I will reflect on some of my own personal experiences while living in Pittsburgh and the things that I hear about on the 'down-low.'

I will also do the research for the 15 year old boy shot in the back by a police officer. I should have that information within the next few days.

Also, thanks for the great feedback. I must say that seeing and talking to Andrew Sullivan this week was also very enlightening, eye-opening, and refreshing.

After watching the news, I have found that many things that I hear about via other means of communication are more interesting than the things that come on the local news. I am finding that facebook, e-mail and word of mouth is a great source of some of the things that is really going on in the city.

For example, about 15 years ago, there is a girl that I went to high-school with that was stabbed 42 times in Wilkinsburg and the police never found her murderer. Even though her ex-boyfriend was a prime suspect, his family had money and he is still walking and living free. That situation is so crazy due to the fact that I know another guy that told me that the ex-boyfriends' family paid him to be in the police line-up because he (the guy I know) looked like the ex-boyfriend of the murdered girl. Her case is just a 'cold case' that will probably never get solved.

STAY TUNED...MORE TO COME.. YOU WILL SEE THAT THE UNDER-REPORTED, UNDERGROUND INFORMATION IS MORE INTERESTING THAN THE THINGS THAT YOU HEAR AND SEE ON THE NEWS.
